How to Apply for Student Permit Visa for New Zealand

Foreign students who are planning to study in New Zealand must meet certain requirements and rules. If you plan to study for more than three (3) months in New Zealand the first thing that a foreign student needs to have is a student permit visa. You can obtain the student permit visa at the New Zealand Immigration Services (NZIS), the agency that is responsible in handing out visas to those who wish to study or work in New Zealand.

How to apply for a student permit or visa for New Zealand:

1) To find out if you meet the requirements to be able to study in New Zealand, visit http://www.immigration.govt.nz .

2) After you met the requirements mentioned, you need to complete the Student Visa/Permit Application Form (INZ 1012).New Zealand's Immigration Services website will provide you with an application form in a PDF format, you could just print this and fill the form. If unable to print the form from the website simply go to the New Zealand Immigration Office nearest you.

3) After completing the application form, you are also required to submit
the needed information listed at the back of the application form as well as the required fees.

4) You should also be able to meet the health requirements. The health
requirements will depend on how long you will be studying in New Zealand.

5) After meeting the health requirements, character requirements are also
needed. This means that you have to provide a police clearance or
certificate from your country of citizenship or from the country where you
after you have reached the age of 17 and lived for five or more years.

6) Your application must be approved before you are able to travel to New Zealand. If you are already in New Zealand just submit your application to
