With the increase in transportation costs and the traumatic hassle of traffic jams, more and more people are looking for telecommuting companies and opportunities to save both time and money that are wasted in such unnecessary ordeals. Telecommuting refers to an employment type where you can work from home or any other location of your preference, and communicate with the office or your employer via telephone calls, fax messages, email messages or any other communication method facilitated by technology.
Telecommuting companies have adopted this form of employment due to the number of benefits it proposes to the company’s cost structure. Firstly, employers do not have to spend too money on the employees overhead expenses and office supplies. Other costs like employees’ insurance and taxes can also be avoided. Further, the disadvantages of telecommuting for employers are not too many. An employers big concern is lack of supervision of employees and also low motivation from the employee, but this could be compensated by increasing the pay.
Different companies have different needs from telecommuters. On one hand, some telecommuting companies offer 100% virtual employment opportunities wherein your location will be irrelevant and you will never, physically need to see your employer. You will not be required to know the location of the telecommuting company or have to check in at any point of your employment. There are other companies that do not need you to visit the office but may need you to go to other places for certain work related matters. Yet others require telecommuting employees to visit time to time, to sit in on meetings or to be around for important company activities.
The internet is the main form of media used by telecommuting companies to announce employment opportunities. There is no one field that requires telecommuters. Telecommuters are important in a range of areas like journalism, accounting and even marketing. If any industry deals a lot with computer programming or similar areas, then telecommuting is ideal for them. Always be careful to check if the company you are interested is one that is legal. Bear in mind, to run background checks on telecommuting companies before binding into contracts.Genuine telecommuting companies clearly lay out details about the company business, the job tasks, job responsibilities, the pay rate and the time commitment involved.
