Plan properly. Conduct your homework so that you can field any specific questions about the company that you are applying to. Study the detail about the company so that you can rapidly furnish any answer with details about the company’s financial dealings or product news. Don’t just look enthusiastic about joining the company and then fall on your sword when they realise that it’s all a show.

The following centers hold some really useful information:

Google the company’s website as a first step. Learn how the company wants to be known as well as the market they operate in and the services they sell. Align yourself with the company’s corportate style and tone. Look at the annual report and have a look at their press releases.

As you filter all this information, consider how the role you’re applying for relates to the company’s mission. You may also be able to use the site’s search facility to discover more about the person or people who will be interviewing you.

You should spend some time looking online for any other information you can find about the company. Put their name into Google News to see if they’ve had any recent interesting stories written about them. You could also discover some information written by their current employees on what it’s like to work there.

It’s also worth searching for your own name to see what crops up - your potential employer may be doing the same thing.

Industry sources - It’s not just information about the company you need - you should also have a good background knowledge of the industry so you can impress at the interview. Browse through business publications and websites to see what they are writing about your potential employer and their industry. Have a look on the newsstands at the big magazine retailers - there’s an amazing list of publications out there.

Look through back issues of trade publications - either online or at your local library. You can even obtain some journals for free on their websites.

If you work in the same industry as the company - then use your contacts to ask around about the company you are looking to join.

Preparing yourself - Plan enough time for this purpose. Most don’t - most fail. Study for your interview, like you study for exams. Time spent on this will always pay off - if only through increasing your confidence.

Top Tips For You To Look Through:

Have a friend ask you the common interview questions in a practice interview session.

Be sure you know the time, date and location of the interview and the name of interviewers.

Decide how you will get there and when you need to set off to arrive in good time, anticipating any delays. Do a dummy run if necessary.

If you look good, you tend to feel good too. Avoid any last minute panic by preparing what you’re going to wear the night before.

Don’t take anything with you to the interview that is not essential. Focus on your purpose and don’t have too many distractions to worry about.

If you are asked to bring certificates, references, etc, get them ready well in advance to avoid having to chase around on the morning of the big day.

It may sound patronising, but make sure you use the toilet before you go in - you don’t want to be bursting to go when you’re mid-interview.

Be methodical - Sit down and quietly study your CV. Note down all of the elements of your work record and achievements that you want the interview panel to learn. Ask yourself a series of what, why, where, when, who and how questions to gather the detail about your candidacy.

Always link the specfic areas of your work record to the job description. The interviewer should clearly understand why they must hire you.

Don’t forget that a common interview question is the “Tell me about yourself” question. Create and practice a balanced answer to this question. It needs to be focussed and structured. Let them know about the kind of person that you are.

More and more employees are working from home these days. Telecommuting is a growing phenomenon, with over 22 million telecommuters in the United States working at least one day per week from home. With gas prices continuing to rise, that number is expected to continue to rise. Still, there are some employers who have not yet embraced the concept, because of possible loss of loyalty, compromised security, and productivity. According to statistics, however, their concerns are unfounded, with productivity among telecommuters continually rated high.

The success of telecommuting is such that even the Federal Government is taking steps to allow their workers to begin working from home. Thanks to high-speed Internet, and a variety of networking software such as GoToMyPC and MeetMeNow that allows the employee to access his office computer files from home and even attend meetings remotely~ telecommuting is becoming a viable alternative. Okay, so you’re thinking about asking your employer if you can telecommute. The question is telecommuting right for you?

Working from home is not for everyone. In order to be successful, you should have a certain place where you do your work each day and make a scheduled time to begin that work. It is important that you mentally prepare by getting up, showering, and getting dressed for the job, even though it may be at your kitchen table. Telecommuting requires discipline and often that is a difficult thing for new telecommuters to deal with.

Take periodic breaks, like you do at the office. Then, at the end of the day, shut off your computer and close the door to your office. Establishing a routine is important, because too often telecommuters lose track of time. They skip meals and don’t take breaks. Doing this for any length of time will contribute to stress and, sooner or later, you’ll burnout.

Advise family members that this is actually your work time and you can not be interrupted. Ignore the ringing phone, and don’t answer personal emails. Though it can be difficult, sticking to these simple rules will allow you to be more successful and productive if you choose to work from home.

Courses in electrical involve proper training in maintaining or taking care of electrical parts or appliances. It gives a variety of career options for everyone, right from electrical engineer to a lineman. Now-a-days nothing is possible without electricity; everything is dependent on electrical appliances or machines, so there is a huge demand for electrical courses. In order to provide proper services in electrical it is necessary to undergo proper courses in electrical. Courses in electrical can be used for commercial, residential as well as industrial use.

Courses in electrical are available at a number of government institutes, autonomous institutes, private companies, etc. Now-a-days many private institutes provide online exams for electrical courses, the candidate has to just pay the fees and give the exam online.

Courses in electrical of short duration as well as of long duration are available. Long duration course extends for 1-5 years and short duration course can extend up to 2-4 months. The candidate can do specialization in particular subjects. Many companies require candidates who are specialized in particular areas.

Electrical course in not very simple, they involve deep knowledge of electrical wires, circuits, fuses and appliances. Courses in electrical include theoretical as well as practical knowledge. It involves arithmetic, logical as well as mathematical calculations. Practical training involves working on major electrical projects which involves connecting proper fixing of fuse, laying wires properly and proper cabling, working on AC/CD motors. It involves study of power apparatus and electrical drivers.

Proper care, training, maintenance of electrical appliances should be taken while utilizing various electrical devices as incorrect use of devices can be hazardous. Voltage level of an electrical appliance is around 100 to 20,000, so proper care has to be taken to reduce the risk of life as well as damage of equipments. So in order to minimize injuries, all the machines and devices should be switched off or permanently disconnected from the fuse.

The person undergoing electrical course has to be physically fit as it involves a lot of hard work. It may involve physical work such as climbing the poles to fix proper fuse and wires on the pole. He should also be mentally fit as it involves a lot of mathematical calculations and logical operations. The candidate has to undergo a medical test for admission in electrical courses.

Medical test involves eyes, ears and blood test. All the information on electrical courses is available on internet. Proper information as well as practical training is provided on internet, so it becomes easier for anyone to understand the proper concepts of courses even if someone is not able to join a course at an institute. Videos as well text documents containing information on electrical courses are available on the internet. After completion of the course the candidate can work at factories, companies, various industries - private or government. So, one can definitely go for courses in electrical for lucrative and better paying jobs.

The dominant gas in Saturn’s atmosphere is hydrogen, but small quantities of helium and methane are also present. If we were to think about the possibility of life developing on this planet similarly to Earth’s life conditions, we have to admit that it is very unlikely. Saturn has a density level inferior to that of the water; thus, were there a lake or ocean, Saturn would be floating in it. Chances for life support remain standing in what Saturn’s moons are concerned, though, but research is in progress, and until more scientific evidence is obtained, everything is pure theory.

Saturn

Saturn is a very windy place, which is definitely a feature to stand out; imagine wind blowing at about 1,100 miles per hour in in low and central latitudes. But at first glance, nothing seems as spectacular on Saturn as the ring system that surrounds the planet. There are three main ring sectors scientists have classified so far: we can actually consider them three rings in fact, with two brighter and one fainter. Space probes sent to study this unique planetary characteristics have revealed that each so-called ring consists of a large number of smaller ones, and that there are gaps between or inside the main ones too.

Saturn

The exact origin of the rings of Saturn remains a mystery for the moment; what makes them so special is that many of them are icebergs of different sizes, having a significant water quantity trapped in their structure. Other ring sectors consist of dust mainly that present characteristics of electrostatic charging, thus enabling the formation of spokes. They are made of very fine dust particles, which are usually short-lived as the spokes merely dissipate. Then, there is a close connection between some of the rings and smaller Saturn moons that seem to influence the dust presence in certain sectors. Moreover, the revelations science had with the discovery of Saturn’s moons are neither the first nor the last, who knows what will show up next?

The Down syndrome genetic condition occurs when a person has three copies of chromosome 21, instead of the normal two. This is called “trisomy 21.” The additional genetic material is what causes Down syndrome and every cell of a Down baby will then have 47 chromosomes, rather than 46. However, a small percentage of people with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21 in some cells but not all, in a condition called “Mosaic Down syndrome.” In a third type called “Translocation,” part of chromosome 21 attaches to another chromosome during the formation of eggs and sperm, early in fetal development. There are few differences in people with the various Down syndrome types, although they exhibit a wide range of effects.

There are many ways the genetic data of Down syndrome can be damaged or rearranged. For example, in trisomy 21, one parent has two chromosomes located at chromosome #21, rather than one, causing the child to receive two chromosomes from one parent and one from the other parent for a total of three. The Down syndrome child will then have 47 chromosomes, instead of 46. This occurs in 90% of all Down syndrome cases. With Mosaic syndrome disorder, chromosome 21 gets damaged during cell replication, where two normal chromosomes become three in some cells. People with this disorder have some cells with 46 chromosomes and some cells with 47 and their symptoms may be less severe. This occurs in 2% of all Down syndrome cases. The last type of Down syndrome is called Translocation and occurs when a normal chromosome breaks into two pieces and attaches to another chromosome. This occurs in 3-4% of all Down patients.

Prior to pregnancy, parents can meet with a genetic counselor to determine their risk of passing on a Down syndrome genetic code. Sometimes disorders run in the family, if more than one person has the condition. In other cases, mothers over the age of 35 may have an increased risk for having Down syndrome babies or, in rare instances, environmental factors can play a part. Some Down syndrome research suggests that smoking while being on birth control can cause the syndrome, although it is debated in some circles. Once pregnant, a woman can go for ultrasound, non-invasive blood tests or undergo amniocentesis for a more accurate assessment.

To discover Down syndrome genetic mutations, there is testing that can be done. Non-invasive screening tests can be performed as early as 11-15 weeks, either the Nucha translucency ultrasound or the triple screen blood test. These procedures accurately predict Down syndrome 80% of the time. Diagnostic tests are 99% accurate but are also more invasive and more dangerous. Following amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling or percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, miscarriages happen 2-3% of the time. Moreover, women who have received a Down syndrome diagnosis often go on to have perfectly healthy babies. Once the baby is born, the doctor can also test with x-rays, cardiographs and can assess by looking.

Galileo was a 16th and 17th century astronomer born in Pisa, Italy. He first became a math teacher even though he had no degree in the subject, and here he began his path to greatness. A baby step towards Galileo Galilei astronomy was when he demonstrated to students that different weight objects fell at the same speed, counter to Aristotle’s teachings. Aristotle was so popular that Galileo soon lost his teaching job, and so sought work in Padua. It was there that his ideas about astronomy truly began.

He began to study Physics and invented a new measuring device, the compass. He discovered the law of falling bodies and the parabolic path of projectiles. These works went on to guide astronomy for a long time. However except for an allegiance to the work of Copernicus over Ptolemy and Aristotle, Galileo claimed to be disinterested in astronomy. Copernicus had proposed that the solar system is heliocentric, that is that the planets rotate around the sun. Aristotle and Ptolemy held that the solar system was centered around the Earth, and even the sun rotated around our home. Of course today we know that Ptolemy and Aristotle were wrong.

When the spyglass was invented in Holland, Galileo learned of it and made his own telescope which he turned to the sky. This telescope magnified objects 20 times, which was enough to make out craters and mountains on the moon. He also learned that the milky way was made up of individual stars. He also saw four large moons orbiting Jupiter. After publishing this information, he was named the royal mathematician in the court at Florence. No longer having to earn a living teaching, he could spend more time exploring. In only 9 months he determined that other planets had phases. This further contradicted Ptolemy while proving that Copernicus was right.

Galileo’s original dispute was with Aristotle’s teachings. Because so many agreed with Galileo his theories were widely published. But the powerful church was inclined to believe Aristotle’s theories which placed man at the center of creation. A Florence priest denounced Galileo Galilei astronomy in 1614. Galileo retorted that the bible has no bearing on science. In 1616 Galileo was ordered to stop teaching that the Earth revolves around the sun. Respecting the church’s authority, or perhaps only its ability to enforce it, Galileo did as he was told, turning back to other interests. Galileo signed a document proclaiming his agreement with the Earth centered solar system, one in which the Earth doesn’t move. But he had one more thing to say on the subject. “I would say here something that was heard from an ecclesiastic of the most eminent degree; “And yet … it moves.”

Astronomy is a serious professional business and enjoyed by enthusiasts. There’s a lot of new information popping up every day. A lot of this information from the image is to how to use a telescope can be found in an astronomy magazine. It’s even better now that so much of this is also on the web.

In the UK many people read Astronomy Now. Both professionals and hobbyists will enjoy this magazine that’s going on 20 years in existence. The magazine regularly includes features on everything to do with the science, and focus articles that go further in depth into a particular subject or aspect of Astronomy. This is in addition to monthly regular features which include star charts, book reviews, images submitted by readers and all sorts of guidance. the star charts presented on the site are far superior to those in the magazine. Many variables can be set to view the star chart on a particular day or time. It’s a real help to anyone with a telescope.

Sky and Telescope is another excellent astronomy magazine. It describes itself as having an astronomy expert at your side. Imagine if Carl Sagan could help you in your nightly gazing. The magazine also presents stunning images each and every month. One exciting piece of imagery Sky and Telescope delivered in November of 2008 was images of a planet orbiting another star. This marks the first time a planet has been seen orbiting another star in visible light imagery.

It’s likely that the first web site anyone finds when searching for information on Astronomy is that of the world’s best selling astronomy magazine, “Astronomy”. Nobody beats astronomy magazine’s website for the information they present. It includes the first images ever taken of another solar system. Also posted is an audio tour, in the form of a podcast, of the constellation Cassiopeia. Astronomy also features guides for kids getting into astronomy, first time astronomers and people who want to see the night sky from a city setting. It’s a great magazine to have, and a great web site to visit.

With so much information on the Internet there is no reason to purchase print magazines. One way or another the information is at your fingertips.

Astronomy is a subject as large as the universe. Astronomy answers many questions about the universe. Astronomy news is interesting, to say the least, and can be found in media reports as well as on web sites such as those maintained by astronomy magazines and agencies like NASA. Here are some recent, tantalizing tidbits of space information.

A lot of astronomy news can be found in the magazine ”Astronomy”. NASAs IBEX, Interstellar Boundary Explorer, was one exciting story. Just as weatherman study winds in fronts, IBEX studies outer space fronts. To be exact it is the solar wind and how it interacts with space beyond the reach of the sun. Another goal is to create an accurate picture of the solar system’s boundaries.

More astronomy news covered by Astronomy magazine is the discovery of a new aurora on Saturn that’s unlike any other known aurora in the solar system. An aurora is formed when charged particles stream along planetary magnetic field. Earth’s aurorae come from charged particles from the solar wind. Jupiter produces the particles and the magnetic field that creates its auroras. Saturn’s aurora is unique because it covers a large area. That’s why scientists believe there is a lot to learn.

astronomy news can also be found in the magazine “Universe Today”. On November 13, 2008 it carried the story of contact reestablished with the Mars rover. The rover had lost contact after running through a massive dust storm. But Spirit recovered from this low-power dilemma. With the dust blocking sunlight from its solar panels, the fear was that it would shut down completely and never recover. But it recovered and now it’s back on the job.

that the Allen telescope array which is part of the SETI project will find intelligent life in only a little over a decade is staggering astronomy news. With time the array will grow in power provided by 350 radio antennas. It’s only a matter of a short time before it hears signals from deep enough in space that intelligence is sure to be found.

There could be no bigger astronomy news than actual contact with intelligence.

With companies failing daily and reports of layoffs just another blurb on the nightly news, our collective sense of job security is changing rapidly. For many, never does a day go by that we don't consider whether our job will be one of the next to go.

by Craig Calvin

With companies failing daily and reports of layoffs just another blurb on the nightly news, our collective sense of job security is changing rapidly. For many, never does a day go by that we don’t consider whether our job will be one of the next to go.

This may be the time to become a team player, and being the best employee you can be may give you an added advantage over other employees. For instance go out of your way to be highly visible at work, especially to your supervisors. Don’t hesitate to go above and beyond and do that extra little something that sets you apart. There are some positions that the company can live without, so try to work your way into a core position that makes you indispensable. Come to work early and stay late. Live and breathe your company’s mission. Share its goals, and be an active participant in internal and external activities.

This is the time for you to jump in and become more of a team player. You should do everything possible to assure your contributions are noticed and acknowledged. It is often the corporate offices located elsewhere that make decisions on hiring and firing. You’re possibly nothing more than a number to them, so whatever you can do locally to impress your supervisor will be to your advantage.

If the times are telling you that there’s a possibility that you’ll lose your job, then you may need to change from a passive to a proactive mode. Get your resume updated and reprinted. And make sure your interviewing skills are sharpened, possibly even using your friends as guinea pigs to ask you questions. Making sure your job skills are updated and pertinent to the current market is as important as anything else.

Don’t make any large purchases, and work to pay your debt down. You may even consider signing up for credit insurance to help cover your bills in case you’re out of a job. Set aside some rainy day money. It’s true that if you get laid off, you’ll be able to collect unemployment. However, it’s generally only about half of what your normal pay is or less. Prepare yourself and you family mentally for the possibility of you losing your job. Most of all, keep a positive outlook. As the old saying goes when one door closes, another opens. This may be just the push you need to get out of a career rut and move on to something better.
